A pallet truck is an item of lifting equipment that is designed for the lifting and moving of pallets.

It can be classed as one of the most basic forms of a "fork lift" and is predominantly used for the moving of heavy or lightweight pallets within a warehouse or storeroom type environment.

A pallet truck allows you to effectively lift and move pallets without having to go to the expense of buying or renting a fork lift truck too.

About pallet trucks:

A pallet truck is a manually operated item of lifting equipment.

A pallet truck is made up of several key components including the lifting jack (often referred to as a pump), the steerable wheels, the fork assembly, front fork rollers, and several other components including the pump handle. It is completely controlled and powered by the user. Pallets can be raised off the ground ready for moving by simply pumping the handle of the pallet truck up-and-down, just as with a car jack or hydraulic bottle jack.

Once the pallet is lifted off the ground, the truck can be maneouvered to wherever in your warehouse or storeroom it is needed to be transported too.

Pallet trucks come in a wide range of different sizes, configurations, and lifting capacities. 1.5t and 2t are really common specifications when it comes to choosing to buy or hire a pallet truck.

Choosing a good pallet truck:

A good pallet truck can be identified by having several key features.

Amongst these are:-

* The hydraulic pump should be of a good quality, with a slow lowering control on the main handle.

* The front rollers should be of a strong construction, and be large enough to spread the weight load.

* Grease points on the pallet truck will make general maintenance easier, allowing fast servicing when required. Some cheap priced units have no grease points at all, because of their budget construction.

* A good paint finish with a high quality tough paint coating. A quality paint finish will keep the elements at bay when using a pallet truck indoors as well as outside, protecting your investment and hopefully extending the service life of any pallet truck.

Pallet truck rental:

The temporary rental of a manually operated pallet truck is cost effective for those one off jobs when you need to move a pallet of goods or components in your warehouse or storeroom. Pallet truck hire is also a good idea if your own pallet truck is broken or in the workshop awaiting a service.

Having a pallet truck "on call" can keep your warehouse operations moving, keeping productivity going as usual.

To obtain the hire of a pallet truck just contact your local lifting products supplier. Usually as well as this type of equipment you will find a large range of other lifting products is available - including products such as chain blocks, d shackles, hoists, lifting gantry units, web slings, genie material lifts, tirfor machines, and much more.

  1. In addition to pallet trucks, lifting companies also have other equipment such as forklifts which are useful for moving heavier goods. However, bear in mind that pallets and forklifts should only be used by experienced and skilled operators.
