Portable Welder Hire in Sheffield

Hire a Portable Welder in Sheffield

Portable Welder Equipment Hire in Sheffield
A portable welder is an item of welding equipment that is designed for and capable of joining metals such as brass, aluminium, steel, stainless steel and similar metals etc.

As well as the being used for the joining of metals a portable welder is also used for the filling and repairing of holes in metal components and all types of metal structures.

Popular areas of industry where a welder is often used is in the industrial sectors around building and construction work, engineering and metal fabrication, general metal component manufacturing and assembly work, machinery maintenance and repairs, aerospace, the construction, assembly, and manufacturing of pipelines and pressure vessels, and in shipbuilding.

Electric powered welding equipment

There are a wide range of different types of electric welding equipment that you can hire, these are chosen to suit the type of welding work that is needed as well as the site environment. Types of electric welders that are freely available to hire include arc, mig, tig, and mma welders to name a few.

Mig welders

An electric mig welder can really make those difficult metal repair jobs that much easier. They are regularly used by engineering staff and vehicle mechanics whether being put to use in a workshop, in a garage, in a factory environment, or on the farm.

An electric powered mig welder works by using an arc of electricity to create a short-circuit between the metal that is being welded and a continuously fed length of welding wire. The heat that is produced by the short-circuit melts the metal allowing them to mix together, once the heat source is removed the result is a new piece of fused metal.

The use of gas when mig welding

When welding with a mig welder you need to shield the "weld pool" with a gas, the "weld pool" needs to be protected from oxygen - hence the need to replace this air with gas!

With a mig welder you have 2 options when it comes to this task; one option is to use a "gas" mig welder with an appropriate bottle of welding gas, the second option is to use what is commonly referred to as a "gasless" mig welder. These "shield" the weld pool in a different way, a gasless mig welder uses a spool of welding wire that incorporates a flux core, as you use the welder and carry out the welding process the arc melts the wire and at the same time burns the flux core within, this produces a gas shield around the welding process and on the area of the metal item that is being welded.

Arc welding

Arc welding is also commonly referred to as stick welding, it is one of the oldest forms of electric welding as far as the history of welding goes! An electric arc welder uses a welding rod (the stick) that is coated with flux, when the arc is struck between the work piece and the welding rod the rod and flux melt, the flux creates a gas shield around the weld-pool preventing oxidisation occurring, and the two metals are then joined by the filler rod.

The "arc" that is created with a portable welder of this type is quite fierce and is more suited for thicker gauge steels. Arc welding is commonly used in commercial applications such as the repairing of agricultural machinery, heavy steel engineering and fabrication, and the assembly of steel structures and items such as heavy duty metal fencing and entrance gates.

Tig welding

Tig welding is another form of welding that uses an arc. This type of welding is one that can produce a very high quality weld compared to other methods.

The process of tig welding is one that requires the welder to use both hands, one hand is used for holding the tig welders torch (this produces the arc), the other hand is used to hold the filler rod to add the filler metal to the weld joint. Because two hands are needed to carry out this welding process it can be very time consuming, but at the same time it is a very versatile way of welding. It can be used to weld a wide choice of different metals.

An electric powered tig welder is commonly used for the welding onsite (and also in the fabrication shop) of critical weld joints, welding metal other than just mild steel. It is also a great way of welding where precise and small welds are needed.

Pallet Truck Hire Sheffield

Hire a Pallet Truck in Sheffield

Hire a Pallet Truck in Sheffield

A pallet truck is an item of lifting equipment that is designed for the lifting and moving of pallets.

It can be classed as one of the most basic forms of a "fork lift" and is predominantly used for the moving of heavy or lightweight pallets within a warehouse or storeroom type environment.

A pallet truck allows you to effectively lift and move pallets without having to go to the expense of buying or renting a fork lift truck too.

Hire a Pallet Truck in Sheffield

Contact: Tedbar Tinker Hire - Tel: (0114) 2444238

About pallet trucks:

A pallet truck is a manually operated item of lifting equipment.

A pallet truck is made up of several key components including the lifting jack (often referred to as a pump), the steerable wheels, the fork assembly, front fork rollers, and several other components including the pump handle. It is completely controlled and powered by the user. Pallets can be raised off the ground ready for moving by simply pumping the handle of the pallet truck up-and-down, just as with a car jack or hydraulic bottle jack.

Once the pallet is lifted off the ground, the truck can be maneouvered to wherever in your warehouse or storeroom it is needed to be transported too.

Pallet trucks come in a wide range of different sizes, configurations, and lifting capacities. 1.5t and 2t are really common specifications when it comes to choosing to buy or hire a pallet truck.

Choosing a good pallet truck:

A good pallet truck can be identified by having several key features.

Amongst these are:-

* The hydraulic pump should be of a good quality, with a slow lowering control on the main handle.

* The front rollers should be of a strong construction, and be large enough to spread the weight load.

* Grease points on the pallet truck will make general maintenance easier, allowing fast servicing when required. Some cheap priced units have no grease points at all, because of their budget construction.

* A good paint finish with a high quality tough paint coating. A quality paint finish will keep the elements at bay when using a pallet truck indoors as well as outside, protecting your investment and hopefully extending the service life of any pallet truck.

Pallet truck rental:

The temporary rental of a manually operated pallet truck is cost effective for those one off jobs when you need to move a pallet of goods or components in your warehouse or storeroom. Pallet truck hire is also a good idea if your own pallet truck is broken or in the workshop awaiting a service.

Having a pallet truck "on call" can keep your warehouse operations moving, keeping productivity going as usual.

To obtain the hire of a pallet truck just contact your local lifting products supplier. Usually as well as this type of equipment you will find a large range of other lifting products is available - including products such as chain blocks, d shackles, hoists, lifting gantry units, web slings, genie material lifts, tirfor machines, and much more.

Dehumidifier Hire Sheffield

Hire a Dehumidifier in Sheffield

Dehumidifier Hire and Rental

A dehumidifier is an electric operated machine that removes excessive moisture from rooms or a closed area within a building or property.

It works by allowing you to reduce the level of humidity, controlling damp and condensation.

If you have a problem with damp in your property, perhaps which has resulted in the growth of black coloured surface mould or even timber rot? you may need to get this under control by way of using dehumidifier machine hire!

Hire a dehumidifier in Sheffield

Contact: Turner Hire and Sales - Tel 0114 2581682

About dehumidifier machines:

If you have a damp problem within your home or property that has come from penetrating or rising damp, or you are experiencing excessive moisture from poor air circulation caused by cooking or a form of heating (maybe you use a tumble dryer in your kitchen without an extractor fan?), you may be having to put-up with mould that is growing on your walls, around your window frame edges, on sealant around fixtures and fittings, and also a musty damp smell or odour too?

Unless you have a major damp problem that needs the help of a builder or specialist contractor - one solution would be to use a dehumidifier.

First lets look at humidity...

Every building, property, and home has a level of humidity in the air within. If your home is centrally heated you may think that this air is completely dry, but usually there is a level of moisture present too. If you dry clothes and other laundry items by way of a tumble dryer or a clothes airer (inside your home) the actual humidity level can be quite surprisingly high. Cooking without proper ventilation in your kitchen adds to this problem too!

The same goes for washing in bathrooms and shower rooms, if there is a lack of ventilation the humidity level in these parts of your home can go sky high - creating damp and mould growth in many areas at the long term.

How can you tell if you have a humidity problem?

Easy, look for condensation on windows, tiled surfaces, mirrors, and even plastered walls! If any of these are present - you have an excess moisture problem.

What does a dehumidifier actually do

A dehumidifier is a simple but clever piece of electrical equipment, it can be classed as an appliance or alternatively "a dehumidifier machine".

It operates like an "air vacuum cleaner" by drawing excessive moisture out of the room or area the machine is sited in, depositing it as water in a collection tank (or collection bottle), and then blowing the air back into the room again.

How does a dehumidifier work?

  • A dehumidifier operates off an electrical supply, usually one which is 230/240v in-line with the power supply found in both commercial and domestic properties within the UK.
  • Small (domestic) dehumidifiers (as can be purchased at many different outlets and also online retailers) are usually fitted with a standard UK 3 pin plug. If you choose to hire a dehumidifier machine it will usually be supplied from your local Sheffield tool hire shop with a suitable length of power cable along with a rcd (circuit breaker) safety device.
  • A dehumidifier operates in a similar way to a refrigerator. The process is as below:
  • Warm, high moisture content air is sucked into the machine through a grille or aperture on the machine.
  • An internal electric operated fan draws this air upwards.
  • The warm (and high moisture) air then passes over freezing cold pipes of which through a coolant circulates.
  • As this air cools down, the moisture that is within turns back into a liquid state (water), this then drips off the pipework.
  • A small heating element then warms this air back up to the original temperature, after which it is blown back into the room via another grill or aperture.
  • A collection tube then directs the water and deposits it in a collection bottle / tank, or a tray.
  • When this collection tank is full (depending on individual machine brand and model) usually the dehumidifier will turn automatically off, and may also switch on a warning light telling you that the machine needs emptying.

Should you buy or rent a dehumidifier?

If the problem within your Sheffield home or property is minor, perhaps only experienced during the cold seasons of Autumn or Winter, it may be wise to simply buy a budget priced dehumidifier machine?

If however you have an issue with excess moisture, damp, or a need to "dry out" a building - then you should consider the rental of a heavy duty dehumidifier machine from a local tool hire shop!

This is especially the case if your property or house has suffered water damage from a burst pipe (central heating system, cold and hot water pipes, maybe water drainage?) or a flood. The same applies if you have discovered a bad or a major damp problem!

Have you had a room or your Sheffield property re-plastered or re-painted? If so, a dehumidifier can help it dry out faster!

Where to hire a dehumidifier from in Sheffield

There are several places in the city where you can obtain one of these useful machines from. Some of the equipment hire companies only deal with trade users on a business account basis whilst some offer both.
