Carpet Cleaner Hire

Professional Carpet Cleaning Machines

Carpet Cleaner Hire
Clean the Carpets, rugs, and upholstery in your home or workplace with the hire of an easy to use small sized carpet cleaning machine.

Carpet cleaning machines (otherwise known as carpet shampooer's, puzzi's, rug doctor machines etc) can be hired at affordable prices from nearly all tool hire and equipment shops.

If the carpet in your flat or house is looking flat and patchy in colour, a deep extraction type machine is what you need.

As the name suggests, a deep water extraction machine works by injecting water and a cleaning solution deep into the fibres and piles of your floor carpet or covering. This cleans and brings soil and dirt to the surface where it is then vacuumed up by the machines powerful suction nozzle.

In years gone by most people used to refer to this type of cleaner as a steam cleaner. This is actually the wrong title, the correct one being just a "carpet cleaning machine". Some home owner's and tool hire shops now have two classes of this type of machine, small models being classed as a "domestic" model, larger ones as a "commercial carpet cleaner".

Are They Easy To Use?

All deep extraction carpet cleaning machines are very easy to use. The easiest being the Karcher "Puzzi" models, and the Numatic "George" type cleaning machines. Both these machines use warm water and a non foaming shampoo as the cleaning agent.

The water and shampoo are poured into the machines tank ready for dispersal.

Two switches on the machine are then activated; 1) The power spray (this turns on a spray pump which pumps the warm clean water and shampoo concentrate out of the spray nozzle) 2) The vacuum suction control (this extracts the dirty water from your rug and carpets, sucking the dirty water out and depositing it in an enclosure or tank on the machine).

The method of using these types of machines vary slightly from one brand to another but are very similar.

The outline method is:

1) First, remove all furniture and items such as televisions, hi fi units, display cabinets, from the room to be cleaned.
2) Read the instructions that came with the machine carefully, noting any safety requirements needed such as the use of a circuit breaker, use around pets, or children.
3) Vacuum the rug or carpet thoroughly to remove all surface dirt.
4) Examine the carpet or rug thoroughly for any spots or areas that require particular attention.
5) If any extra soiled areas are found treat these first with a "spot cleaner". Test for colour fastness in an area that will not be noticed if a reaction occurs, such as behind a sofa or chair.
6) Fill the machines tank with warm water and the recommended mixture of cleaning shampoo.
7) Familiarise yourself with the machines controls and attachments.
8) Turn on the spray pump and vacuum control, these are normally hand or foot operated switches on the cleaner itself.
9) With the spray nozzle (sometimes referred to as the wand) spray an amount of cleaning solution on an area approximately four (4) foot by three (3) foot.
10) After giving this a few seconds to penetrate, run the vacuum nozzle over the area slowly allowing the carpet cleaner to extract and suck up as much dirty water as possible. The best action to use is a slow pulling action with the nozzle, this will collect the majority of the soiled water solution.
11) This action then needs repeating over the whole of the area that needs cleaning, whether it is a rug, upholstery, or a carpet.
12) Notice needs to be taken of the machines solution tanks. Refill the cleaning solution tank when needed. In addition remember to empty the soiled water tank when it approaches the full marker level.
13) After you have completely covered the whole area it is recommended you switch off the spray pump and go over the area again using the machine in extraction mode only. This will allow the maximum amount of soiled water to be removed resulting in a faster drying time.
14) The carpet may take several hours or a full day to dry completely out depending on its construction. Nylon type rugs and carpets tend to dry out faster than wool types. A fan can speed the process up as well as opening any windows which are in the same room.
